Christa M. WinthersAttorney
Christa knew that she wanted to be an attorney from the time she was a child, even though she did not have any attorneys in her family. Christa now has children of her own, and they are fortunate to have a mother and grandfather who are attorneys; as David Winthers, founding partner of Mullen, Winthers & Cerny, P.C. is Christa’s father-in-law.
Christa has been an attorney in Illinois since her graduation from Valparaiso School of Law in 2005. She began her career in the Juvenile Division of the DuPage County Public Defender’s Office where she eventually became the supervisor of the entire division. In that capacity, she worked intimately with DuPage County probation officers, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), and the State’s Attorney’s Office on abuse and neglect cases.
In 2007, she left the Public Defender’s Office to work in Private Practice. Since then, she has gained extensive knowledge and experience in the domestic relations area of law by handling numerous pre-decree and post-decree divorce cases. Christa finds family law extremely rewarding because she has the ability to counsel, advise, and advocate for her clients during the hardest time in their lives.
She has also devoted a large portion of her practice to representing the best interest of children by serving as a court appointed Guardian ad Litem in dozens of domestic relations cases and juvenile abuse/neglect cases.
When Christa is not at work, she enjoys running, fishing, hiking and spending time with her husband and two young children.
